New Warranty Law

Minnesota’s updated warranty law went into effect on October 1, 2023.

This is a significant law for new vehicle dealers in Minnesota and MADA has been receiving several calls seeking guidance on the matter.

The law itself is straightforward: “Compensation for warranty labor must equal the dealer's effective nonwarranty labor rate multiplied by the time guide used by the dealer for nonwarranty customer-paid service repair orders.”
See §80E.041, Subd. 4.

In even simpler terms, this means manufacturers must pay dealers for warranty work based on the same time guide used when charging retail customers.

Come join us at 10:00 am on Friday, October 13 to learn more about the new law and best practices on how best to achieve fair warranty reimbursement under the new law.
This class is
free for MADA members and will take place at the Minneapolis Marriott Southwest.
