The last name Asa has long been associated with car sales in Jackson. Now Todd Asa is expanding his family’s name to the Austin area with the purchase of another car dealership.

Asa knew Tom Sherman, owner of Usem Chevrolet in Austin, for many years because they attended different business meetings and functions together. Sherman’s family had run Usem Chevrolet since the 1920s and, when he decided to sell, he didn’t put it on the market, but rather approached Asa to see if he would be interested in buying it. He knew how Asa ran his business, and knowing he also ran a family-owned and -operated dealership, he wanted him to buy his family’s lot.

Asa wasn't completely interested at first, but when he later found out his son Tanner was interested in joining the family business, he changes his mind. Todd closed on the purchase of Usem Chevrolet earlier this year, and his son Tanner moved to Austin to run the dealership, now known as Asa Auto Plaza of Austin.
