Filing Tax on Optional Maintenance Contracts

 Some dealers and their DMS vendors are still struggling to properly document and collect sales tax when they sell a motor vehicle maintenance 

contract. In late 2012, the Minnesota Department of Revenue announced a change in how retailers must charge sales tax when they sell optional maintenance contracts for a separate charge.
